Morning Thoughts Part Ducks

I woke up at 8.10 this morning. Rested, snug, feeling good. Just for the record!

Hello Ducky, well, how very odd, but I have been having exactly the same problem. 4.45am every bloody morning for the past week, it has been a nightmare. And then Friday, I slept all the way through to the normal dawn chorus of the children at 6.30am. How odd is that?

There must be something in this ramadan thing that has rewired us all!

Well I just long for one night of un-interupted sleep. Little One is in a habit of coming to fetch me at some ungodly hour. Needless to say I can't get back to sleep. I'm just hoping this phase passes soon!

Hi guys. NZM - Shortly after the lie-in I started with one of those nameless 24-hour lurgies, as I thought - I'm just about over it now (Tuesday morning!). So who can tell?

HMHB & Elle (New icon? I like it.) You have my sympathy.
I don't know about you, but I don't think I accommodate changing hours and pace very well. I was quite disorientated by the end of my summer vacation (It's Tuesday, we're in England and that's so-n-so...... so we must be in such-n-such. Local language English.)

Since we got back here, in a five-week span I've gone from holiday idle to school prep with alarm clock and school bells - to normal hours and classes - to Ramadan hours (and now new Ramadan hours to relieve the poor souls who take two-and-a-half hours to get home to Sharajah).

I don't know how regular travellers like NZM cope with constantly moving between different time zones and environments. However do you manage?

HMHB Did you do the albondigas?Habibi did, and while they were very good, neither of us thought that the almonds added anything.

Mama Duck: haven't done the meatballs yet, but on my list for this weekend. I will let you know.

HBHB - that recipe is a bit rubbish - I would ignore most of it if I did it again, especially the sauce!

MamaDuck: While we were travelling, it was fine, we had no problems getting to sleep and staying that way.

Now that we're in one spot, it's hell! We're waking up between 3 and 4:30am EVERY bloody night/morning. At first we blamed it on the cat, but now that she's gone (moved with the previous tenants, not dead!), it's still happening! Hopefully this pattern will stop at some stage, 'cos we need to sleep!

HMHB: I'd cook a day ahead if I were you: the flavour really developed, and the mixed meats gave it a nice texture - not too hard. But so far we prefer your recipes. Habibi improvised the pimenton the second time he did your chilli, scorching some red peppers. Yum 2! Keep 'em coming!

NZM: Oh you poor thing. It must drive you crazy. I'm going to catch up on your adventures this weekend. Last time I checked, you were heading for Fotokina.
